Two words: Bull & Shit.

It is fun to go find things in thrift stores. The internet has ruined some of them though because some now list items on eBay and instead of just finding a good quality made item or electronic device and buying it at a good price, you now have to outbid people who might not even live in the same country.
Yeah, I saw a post on HackerNews for this exactly. Someone built a "AI tool" so you can just take a picture of something in a thrift store and it shows you it's resale value for sites like ebay. As if it wasn't already completely fucked by people doing stuff like that.
It might be worth it to work there as an employee who sorts new items just to get first dibs on them.
A part-time job for a part-time side gig while still working full time and on-call. Yeah, I am going to pass on that one but I guess I probably won't ever be a millionaire with that mindset.
On another note. I should start checking out thrift stores for old computers/servers. Some actually have those. Buying them for re-selling the RAM alone would be worth it. Too bad most of that ends up going to recyclers. Maybe government auctions is a better choice.....
eBay does this already. So does Amazon.
Thrift store shopping is a hobby of mine, I can find many interesting and unusual things at a great price. In the last 4 or 5 years the cost has more than doubled for anything thrifty, but it is still a far better deal than online shopping. For specific items I still use eBay, but if you’re just looking for a fun item, thrifting is a great way to spend an afternoon.
