In the early '80s, when I was 2 or 3 years old, I was out with my dad somewhere and we were waiting for a traffic light change so we could cross the street to wherever we were going to walk to.

Standing beside me was some guy dressed in all denim, with spiked hair and long earrings.

I ask my dad, loud enough for that guy to hear, as children that age do, "Dad, why does that guy have earrings". Dad- (staring right at the guy) "Becauee he's a faggot" Me - "What's a faggot?" Dad-(points right in the guys face) "Him".

Standing beside me was some guy dressed in all denim, with spiked hair and long earrings.

And that was the weirdest thing you ever saw.

No, that was just an average day in the 80s.

What a day to have eyes.

This is the 80s you want? Or are you saying the 80s was less gay?

Looking back, the 80s were still gay. It just wasn't as in your face. You had to really be looking for it, or inadvertently dumb into it. Aside from some jocks in high school that would go "gay bashing" in Harvey Park, no one I knew went "looking for it".

Today you can't turn your head without seeing rainbows and unicorns...

Couldn't help but notice you were following him.

I'll take the 90s. The Internet boom, telco jobs everywhere that paid well, all that cherry and maroon cube furniture...even the early 2000s before obummer fucked things up.
