Politicians talk about things that make them money, or things that pander to the wider electorate of complete morons.
Ya it's bullshit. Your other comment is accurate. If you research and buy a simple appliance without bell and whistles it will pay for itself with simple repairs. Most of the parts you can find on the side of the road. My washing machine is 17 years old Frankensteined together but the bitch still cleans clothes.
I had a washing machine that was a complete train wreck. After it broke about 3 times, I did the research and figured out how to fix it myself instead of calling the repair guy. It kept breaking (apparently this model is famous for having problems with its control boards and sensors). After I fixed it about 5 times in 5 years, I was done. I did the research and purchased a new Speed Queen commercial washer. These are the units they have in laundromats. You can buy them without the coin-operated part. They are designed to work all day, every day. They are build strong. And you can repair them. You can buy every gear and cog inside this unit and repair it yourself. It will outlive me and my kids will fight over it.
Fuck planned obsolescence.
I've thought of this. Buying commercial hardware is the way to go; for almost everything. High upfront cost, built to last until the apocalypse. Just the way I like it.
And you can also make some nice rabbit stew with it.
It's a good gumbo pot to
