Right to repair is a huge deal nobody talks about.

Politicians talk about things that make them money, or things that pander to the wider electorate of complete morons.

Ya it's bullshit. Your other comment is accurate. If you research and buy a simple appliance without bell and whistles it will pay for itself with simple repairs. Most of the parts you can find on the side of the road. My washing machine is 17 years old Frankensteined together but the bitch still cleans clothes.

I had a washing machine that was a complete train wreck. After it broke about 3 times, I did the research and figured out how to fix it myself instead of calling the repair guy. It kept breaking (apparently this model is famous for having problems with its control boards and sensors). After I fixed it about 5 times in 5 years, I was done. I did the research and purchased a new Speed Queen commercial washer. These are the units they have in laundromats. You can buy them without the coin-operated part. They are designed to work all day, every day. They are build strong. And you can repair them. You can buy every gear and cog inside this unit and repair it yourself. It will outlive me and my kids will fight over it.

Fuck planned obsolescence.

And you can also make some nice rabbit stew with it.

just like anything, you have the right to learn how to use your rights. build your own dispenser, and throw out the one that doesnt cooperate. you have the right to be self sufficient, or go without.

Most of the time I'd rather just go without.

Also the right to not purchase GE components.

And yet, sheeple eat this shit up. 💩🐑

It never crossed my mind that there would be chipped consumable items for a fridge, so I could see a lot of people being scammed because they didn't spend several days studying what should be a simple appliance.

I have owned an appliance repair business for seven years. GE appliances were my money-makers, for they failed to function in so many ways. All I ever owned was Whirlpool appliances and the lower-end ones were and still are the best ones. All my appliances are over 12 years old.

Even worse than GE is Samsung. Avoid Samsung like the plague. Even the televisions.

Back to the 3 for 1$ ice trays folks. Problem solved.

What about taking the RFID part out of the old original filter and put it in the new non-GE one?

Or is it expired?

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

It wouldn't surprise me if they had a timer in it to auto-expire.

[–] 2 pts

Yeah probably.

Reminds me of these company who sell salt and put an expiration date on the packaging. lol

They did the same with toner for a laser printer I have at work. Toner doesn't ever go bad, but once you use the cartridge, you have a year to finish it up. I only print about once a week on the thing.

Guess who will never ever buy a printer from that company again? This guy.

Can you at least tell us the brand? I suspect it is HP, but who knows anymore.

[–] 2 pts

They do that with Keurig K2 coffee cups. You take the top ring off of a genuine cup and put it in the machine along with your cheap knockoff cup. It works just fine. Fuck these guys.

I wouldn't be surprised if the sensor is a one time use sensor that you can't transfer.
