I simply don't trust any handle online; might be a byproduct of coming from the days when nick-spoofing was a cool hobby. At the end of the day, one can never be sure which of the nicks you're interacting with are actual people, and which are just really complex perl scripts that have been left running too long and have now developed a form of pseudo-sentience.

Speaking for myself, I cannot conclusively prove to myself that this isn't still the year 1987, and all of the supposed time since then hasn't simply been a really intense and really bad trip. There's at least a 14% chance that none of you are real.

There's also a 36% chance that I'm not real.

Now there's a proper meaty thought to chew on with the ol' brainteeth.

Whats nick spoofing?

Nickname Spoofing. Handle Collision Engineering. 1337 f0rum 5ub73rfug3s. etc. etc. The enacting of various japeries by which one means to present their identity as being that of another poster for reasons of misdirection or technical access. Generalised term for the thing you describe in the subject line of this very thread, as well as other related and similar techniques and the enacting thereof.

At least, that's generally how I recall the term having been used. Mind you, between the alcohol and the drugs, it's probably best to take anything I say with two shovels and a dump-truck full of salt.
