I noticed that as well. Granted, there's just a lot of upvoted on the front page posts. I mean, 47 upvotes? Maybe all these newly registered accounts are keeping them up.
Probably 2 days is the max a post should stay on the first page.

Poal has more lurkers than registered and active users. That’s because you don’t need to be logged to see posts, comments and subs.

I never look at the main page, only new and that gets boring some days when people don't post enough. Hell somedays if it wasn't for AOU I wouldn't have any reading here.
