They get too drunk but don't do anyone any harm. "Good ol boys." They'll help you with any chores about your house, like digging trenches or moving trees with their tractors. They also don't have a thought in their heads about what's going on with society. Their week is, work so I can go home and have a drink and laugh/act like a fool. I stood in mixed admiration and horror tonight as I witnessed just how empty(simple?) they all were. I don't know if I should feel sad that I'm not the same so I can fit in better, or be glad to be on the outside looking in. They sure as shit don't know that they're missing anything. Perhaps I should stop reading and just be simple, too. But I don't think I can. I've always had the thirst, the need to know.
