I started a new job through a training program this year and I'm about 80% of the way through it with extremely high grades. I'm going to fail because of social politics. I'm officially on a "do better or we're firing you' plan that basically boils down to stop asking questions, and do everything the way one of your four bosses wants it done and do it faster. Oh and the boss watching you is going to change every day.

I asked for an example of how I'm not taking feedback well, and the one that came to mind to my girl boss was when we were discussing something technical with no one around, and i asked for a literature reference to read up on.

Fuck me. When the accusation is that you don't take feedback well, you literally can't say a damn thing about anything.

The education director was on the call when she said that, and didn't bat an eye. I thought i worked well with others until I got this job. Working in an OR is fairly stressful for all parties, and my 'trainers' have been doing this for 15-20 years and don't give a fuck anymore. They just do the job and go home with no cognitive involvement anymore. Once you reach the point you can do something in your sleep, odds are you're not going to be good at teaching it. They aren't good teachers, and mentorship is more involved than "I was taught to do it this way 20years ago, so you have to do it this way too."

If I can't take it till i make it out of this, this will be the third job I've been fired from in my 30s. And now i have a kid.

Have more kids. Start your own business. Degrees never pay for them selves, either in money or pain, it’s all a cost.

But what do I know. I just try to stay away from the fryer. We don’t get along.

I was working on a business, then this came along and was a better fit with my science background than what I was gonna do, and would have health insurance. I just want my kid to be happy and have enough food, but i keep consistently failing at careers I could see myself doing for decades, and it's just... Depressing. I even enjoy this job most days!

Upvote not for your depression but for your try. Keep at it. My latest thing was simply what God gave me to do….and it’s feast or famine, but the bills get paid every month only by His grace.
