I'm using a local app to block distraction sites, and I've uninstalled the latest video games to which I am addicted.

... so far today I've:

1) watered the lawn and trees 2) researched application rates and applied fungicide to two of the newly planted trees (that have mildew) 3) cleaned out a workroom in the basement 4) trimmed back a juniper bush that was covering up an outdoor water spigot 5) fixed a misbehaving router and resolved some network issues 6) cleaned out a bathroom and prepared to replace a toilet and sink drain

Give up video games and social media and you can do a lot in 4 hours.

I gave them up for lent and I ended up getting a pretty decent sized art/graphic project done instead.

Its a lot like booze. Some people can enjoy in moderation - some let it consume us.

Somewhere someone in a funny hat wants you distracted and unproductive.

I quit smoking five minutes ago. So far so good.

JK, good luck in your future endeavors. Just remember, a little Galaga is ok, once in a while.

I haven't officially given up video games, but I practically have. Whenever I have some time to play, I open GoG and Steam, between those 2 plus the consoles and games, plus the emulators and games, I have everything anybody could ever want to play. I'll look through the library and then right when I think about installing something, I immediately think how I don't have much time right now to play, so I would only make a bit of progress and then not get to touch it again for an unknown amount of time. So why should I even play in the first place? So I don't.

The only video game I've ever played was Pong back around 1976. I have never been on any social media, not Twitter, My Space, Facepage, Instaidiot, etc. I also haven't owned a TeeVee in over 35 years. Never had much use for them anyway. I have a real life and a farm to run, never had time for make believe.
