On the one hand: I kinda want to be the brave goat and wear my heart on my sleeve. On the other: my self-preservation-senses are tingling. Don't get me wrong, ultimately my internal debate is a selfless one: no one (as far as I know: besides the usual alphabetty suspects) can connect my main account to my IRL identity, so that's not really the issue. It's the vast amounts of content which would get lost forever, which I lament.

I deleted my 4+ yo account about 6 months ago it was freeing.

I did, too, actually. Tried my best to avoid participating, barely spent 10 minutes a day catching up on news. It really did free up a lot of my time, and I actually felt motivated to do things. Voat has become doomporn, no matter how much truth you may find there.

This is pretty high on my radar, atm. It's all black-pills, now. And I get it: I'm doing everything in my sphere-of-availability to become self-reliant and non-dependent on "the state." Pretty well on my way, actually. All I need to do (as a fucking leaf) is to get my firearm license and find time to practice. Everything else, besides finding a house out in the boonies, is already taken care of. Even soldiers go on holidays.

I just left mine. I can log in if I ever want to and PM friends, or still get mail from others. I occasionally log in just to check my in box. I'll likely never post there again, but it hurts nothing to leave the account valid IMHO.

From what I understand: he banned all parties involved, including yourself. If you'd not tried to manipulate voats, in retaliation, then he wouldn't have touched your account(s). That's what I remember. Is this memory incorrect? You know: the only reason I don't downvoat you, is out of principle. Otherwise, I'd troll you by downvoating, just as well. I nuked my maybe 5 years account one week ago. Voat is not what I joined anymore, my account got locked for a month or more, no explanation given, and the wild West thing was weird to me. But hey, you should do as you feel like. If you delete it, you have the option to maintain the content unlinked.

might be talking about a bug where if you were banned by any sub you weren't able to delete your account. I believe it was discovered that anyone who was banned from SBBH were unable to self-delete. If I recall correctly, the bans were reversed so users could delete their accounts.

No, I really couldn't login. It said my account was locked for security reasons, but I didn't use a wrong password. My best guess is the "use it or lose it"thing, I think the put inactive accounts in limbo for a while, and then decided to release them for some reason. Anyway, it's nuked now.

I don't care about the points; honestly. I know how to manipulate the hive-mind, at this point. I could probably amass the same amount of points, if I tried, in a few short months that it took to legitimately gain over the course of four-plus years. I was mainly talking about persistence, for archival's sake, and the fact that some autistic leftist idiot might find those few times that I slipped, somehow, and make my life annoying. I know alphabet soups don't care about me, because I'm harmless in their world. It's the screeching harpies that I (somewhat) care about. Basically: is the risk of leaving that stuff up there, worth the reward?

At this point, after thinking about it for a week: I'm leaning more towards letting it stay. Even if I never log in to it again. I'm also old enough and financially independent enough that, aside from pissing off part of my personal network of people, it wouldn't really affect me much. Outrage shitstorms don't last very long, these days, anyway.
