It could've been much, much worse. There was a possibility of another explosion, and the leaked fuel still being active and seeping into the groundwater. The fact that many kids who were born many years later after the fact like me who never had to deal with the aftermath is all thanks to the great accomplishment of the liquidator crew. Of course if they hadn't just blown the damn thing in the first place... But it was such a catastrophic failure cascade, it was bound to happen eventually somewhere.

Chernobyl always sounded like the worst nuclear disaster, but I always want to remain skeptical, because that is what I was taught through an American media lens.
We had Three-Mile Island in the US, which really wasn't a disaster at all, just more like a well handled whoopsy-daisy, but they made it seem like the end of the world.
More recently, we also had the East Palestine Train fire, which as close to an American Chernobyl as possible, but it was totally swept under the rug.
I heard about Three-Mile Island, and that it was quickly solved with "we just turned it off lmao". But that didn't prevent the jews to kill the nuclear momentum over there anyway.

The Boomers came from such a retardedly prosperous time during American history, they kind of treated America like it has unlimited everything.
Scared of nuclear energy? Shut it down, we can use coal and natural gas.
