As a few of you may remember from the end of February/beginning of March, my hard drive went tits up and died on me. Losing precious memories and a fountain of knowledge that I'd gained over the last 12 years.

I am happy to say that I have got it back, or at least it's on the way. Cost a pretty penny, but I feel in the end it was worth it.

Once again, thanks to @khro_ and @level_101 for their advice at the time. @HughGlass you'll be happy to know I also used a data recovery service and they were able to save everything. Which is a relief, because they said that the firmware completely died on it.

I know most of you don't care, and that this isn't meant to be a blog. But I'll be happy to have all my holohoax documentaries back, all my bookmarks to obscure information, all my informational pdfs from the old days on the chans and my meme vaults and infographics back.

Now, here's hoping a nigger doesn't drop my stuff or a porch pirate nabs it. Because we can't have nice things anymore, can we?

You were on the lucky side of the unlucky ones.

Glad you got all your stuff back.

Don't forget to make a couple backups. Raid 1 is cheap and safe.

Yeah, I really get that. And a major thanks to you to for letting me have my account back back then as well, I forgot to add. I don't post much, if anything, but coming here daily is honestly one of the things that keeps me from going insane despite how furious some of the stuff makes me. It helps reaffirm the need to be Good in this world and that Evil is rising everywhere.

For if Objective Evil exists, then Objective Good must exist as well. And this site shows me evidence of Objective Evil every single day.

Is that sad, or does it make some twisted sense? Seeing Evil reinforces the idea that Good truly exists?

And I'm getting a 1TB eternal Hard drive out of this, but I'll buy one or two more over the next few months to keep back ups.

I forgot to relax to evil a long time ago. It's tiring, and not easy, every day, but it's worth it.

I learned a long time ago that you can back up your files non-digitally by screaming the main talking points on a commuter subway at 6:00 AM in the morning.

Your hard drive might shit the bed, you computer might get seized by the FBI, but the subway commuters will always remember the antisemitic hobo.

I went through the same thing years ago. I lost years of work and other files. I paid through the nose to have it recovered and I learned my lesson. I’ve had nightly automated backups since then.

Congrats man, that happened to me once just plugging in a thumbdrive, it borked a 5tb drive.

I missed the part about your new backup plan,,,,,,

I plan on getting another external hard drive, and I'll look into the RAID1 stuff that aou and hughglass were talking about.

Glad to hear it. I'm trying to recall what advice i gave, but sounds like it was to send it off and hope the wizard nerds could do magic for you like they did for me. It appears they pulled it off.

As AOU said - RAID. RAID 1. I use a teramaster - https://www.terramaster.net/us/products/homesoho-nas/f2-839.html. Mine might be overkill for your needs; i use it as the brain of our home entertainment....running media i'm good with out to the TVs around the house rather than relying on Disney streaming to put out stuff that's not full of fags and trannys.

Either way, a two bay system and three hard drives is all you need. Swap out one ever now and then and save it in the safe. let the other two stay mirrored and redundant. the third is the oh-shit drive.... fire, flood, etc. wipes out the first two, you've got a third in a fire/flood proof safe or off prem that will let you rebuild.
