In the same vein, hope and fear are two sides of the same coin. To hope for a result is to fear it won't come to pass. Act without expectation of praise and also without expectation of result.

Someone once told me that

Expectations are just premeditated resentments

I found that to be very helpful.

It’s hard for most to do. Once you give it all back to the Lord it becomes second nature, first priority.

Receive no praise for accomplishments that are good, but receive some for bullshit. My expectations are slim, and no matter how much less I go, they manage to surprise me every time.
