On to the third.

On to the third.

Happened to me once. Did an interview, it was awful because I honestly didn't give a shit and the interviewer was hostile. Turns out another guy in the room respected it and liked my audacity. I still work there 17 years later. Be yourself and don't take any shit. People are surprising sometimes. Good luck!

She asked me what my goals were and where I saw myself in three years.

I told her I had no goals and almost never think of the future.

She said 'really...' and I something equivalent to:

I don't know what the future is and I don't know where it will take me, all I do know is that every time I have imagined it I have been wrong. I could end up dying in the gutter, as I have seen better men than me fall further, or I could be wildly successful and hit it out of the park.

Life never works out exactly as you plan on it, and I can't count on my future self to do the right thing anymore than I can count on my past self to put me in better position right now. The only things I can control are my actions here and now, so I try to live simply, not get caught up in the past, or the future, and just do the next right thing.

Apparently she liked it well enough, which is good because that is a very basic interview question that I hadn't any real thought into until I started blabbering.
