I removed the meat from the bone, and it has filled three relatively large tupperware containers that I do not want to freeze.

I trimmed the fat, and froze that, along with the bone.

It is very mediocre ham, but it was an incredibly good deal.

Do you have any suggestions on interesting ways to incorporate more ham into my diet?

It's a learned skill. I grew up urban and had to learn how to be a hick. Never felt more American in my life.

Got sick of the city. Moved to Georgia and got a spot in the sticks. Other family moved there as well. Now it's "when in Rome..."

Locals don't necessarily accept us. Maybe in 4 or 5 generations should we last that long. But getting to know the outdoors and the world around you is a wonderful thing. I wish I had grown up this way.

I can fell trees now, have a small orchard, relationships with local small farms for meat. Still working on the garden. I had big ideas but only some of them have come true. If you like working you would love this.

I don't want to ask you any doxxing questions, but can I ask what general metropolitan area you moved from, and what sort of hickish area you moved to?

I lived in multiple metro's growing up. DC, and smaller places. Ultimately a very large metro in California. Once I was out I moved to North Georgia. Georgia gets a bad rep... It seems Tennessee is the fastest growing part of the country. West side of the Appalachians. Just north, about a couple hours.
