It's truly mind blowing to think about. So many "people" just running on pure instinct alone. Hell even my dog demonstrates planning and higher level thought that just "food, fuck, sleep."

I have vivid recollections of my thoughts when I was a toddler contemplating doing something naughty and the possible consequences (and the wonder at suffering a consequence I hadn’t anticipated). I am amazed that some people don’t have the same ability. I’ve always thought that this was one of the defining characteristics of being human.

I truly believe the physical body is here to contain a soul. The physical body is just basically a shim layer to Interface the soul to the environment and does not need a soul to survive.

Those without an inner dialog do not possess a soul, they can only run off of DNA, NPC's so to speak. They are never going to Invent anything, do anything, or improve anything for the betterment of future humans. They certainly can't preplan or understand cause and effect as they only have a now. Souls have a past, and they innately know there is a future, even if it's not the same as now.

OK, now I understand what traits that all of my ex-wives shared. What does it say about me that I married four of them like that in a row? I guess it's true what they say, that a man tends to "marry his mother." Too bad my mother was a horrible, profane and evil witch. This is a concept that I never would have conceived of on my own. If you told me 20 years ago that a significant portion of our population can’t imagine an apple or imagine how they’d feel without having had breakfast, I doubt I would have believed you.

Are they even conscious? I think we need to look at the concept of consciousness and perhaps redefine what, and who, is actually conscious.
