Used goods market has moved to Facebook Marketplace for quite some time and it's become impossible for me to ignore it any longer. Not happy about this.

DON'T DO IT

Private mode and vpn.

I haven't checked yet, but it looks like I can use a burner email and won't have to provide a phone number.

The last time I tried to make a burner Facebook account it wanted me upload a selfie of me holding my photo ID. That obviously wasn't going to happen so I scraped the whole thing.

That's crazy. Never heard of this. That would be a no-go for sure.

Seriously?

Once you make an account you can't delete it. Any urge to consuuuuuume isn't worth it.

Not sure I really care if it's a burner account.

Buying used beats new when fighting consumer culture.

You can delete a facebook account. Not easy to find, but the option is there. The gotcha is if you try to login to check if it's deleted it will reactivate. I think it takes 60 days or some shit like that before it gets fully deleted.

Facebook can be based and funny too. You just have to know where to look.

Lots of scam and shit on fbm, just be careful. I don't think you can make an account without a phone number now says but I'm not sure.

Be sure to go through all the settings and turn off/disable everything you possibly can. Clear cookies and the cache whenever you close out of fbook.

I have not logged into Facebook for years, and when I used it my exposure was rather small (entire data download was 5mb zip file)

They still know every time I buy something at harbor freight, somehow. This is more on harbor freight, but it is creepy.

Use maximum protection if you do it.

Tiny rant: what the heck was wrong with Craigslist?!

Craigslist kind of dropped the ball. They haven't done anything to modernize their platform. I can understand why people have moved away from it, but it sucks.

They haven't done anything to modernize their platform.

That is what makes it good IMO

I tried selling my nvidia 1650 there, not one response so it's kind of for giving away free shit now I'm thinking.

I feel you, but I'm still sticking to my guns. Fuck Zuck.

It helps that my neighbor is always on there and buying stuff to flip all the time. He just shows up to my house with a deal occasionally.

Why?

[–] 0 pt

The main reason is I'm looking to buy a Hobie Cat and this seems to be the place people are listing them.

Had to look that up, but they seem like fun to use and just curious what will a used one list for online?

Really depends on condition. I'm looking to pay around 2-3k for one in decent condition with a trailer. You can find them for like 500 bucks but usually that is one that has been sitting in the weather that needs a lot of reconditioning and new sails.
