Lol! I'm so old I bought one in ~1983 for my first new truck, a Toyota 4x4. It had a couple of bumps on it that acted like air deflectors to help keep the windshield cleaner, otherwise was for rock chip protection. Later on I bought one for a used 1982 Z28 I picked up to cover the rock chips...
