I blame myself, it was my choices.

I know a few people in that income range. Many of them do throw their money away. Without fail they struggle to afford a large expense.

I had a large car expense come up, one of them was shocked I easily had the cash. Yes I have the cash to pay for this because I don't waste money on $20 mixed drinks and electronics I don't need.

Exactly. I worked with a guy once that made over 100k/yr and he was living paycheck to paycheck. Its almost insulting when people like that complain about not being able to afford things like lunch when they buy a new phone every year, new car every 2 years, sporting toys..etc.. that they cannot afford, then they get butthurt when you wont loan them $50 for "something".

Yes exactly!! The guy who sat next to me (paid 20k more) had a paycheck glitch which resulted in $300 being paid on a later paycheck. He was really upset because it meant he couldn't afford to buy his daughter a dress for her first communion. Meanwhile he owns a camper, the truck to pull it, a natural gas (plumbed from the house) grill/ flat top and smoker set, a natural gas generator (for the 0.4 x per year the power goes out), a fully electric riding lawnmower, an electric snow blower, a 3d printer, plus a giant electronic drum set.

how on earth do you sleep at night knowing that you are so bloated, and your family is living on a financial thread?

I will never understand this thinking. When I buy "crazy" stuff it's used and often broken from people like that. I fix it and use it myself or resell it. I don't even do that to supplement my living, I just like to have some things and refuse to pay retail for it.

It's pretty easy to learn how to fix a lot of stuff these days.
