The next time a hippie vegan climate kool-aid cultist gives you an ounce of shit for thriving on a meatcentric diet, enlighten them with the inconvenient truth that according to the US Department of Agriculture, an average American consumes 2000 lbs (one ton!) of food per person per annum. Strict carnivores consume 650 lbs of food on average in the same time period. Remind them to carry the one when they factor in cradle to grave production, packaging and transport costs associated with their misguided life choice and stand as a Chadly example of the supremacy of the nutritional benefits, environmental stewardship and ethics of carnism.

I eat steak to save my sanity.

Can I eat pork chops instead? Because I'm eating pork chops for lunch today, so it wasn't a question.

Indeed! As an avowed and unrepentant carnivore, I consider pork, chicken and fish as lovely side salads or appetizers that compliment the luscious undulate main course.

Pan seared and lightly glazed chops for lunch it is. I was thinking about using them as the meat for a brown bean crock pot this weekend, but nah. I'll use ham for that.

This is a fantastic calculation - one I've never thought about.

The same calculation was originally applied as an argument against oil-based fuels, due to the oil being transported so far from it's point of origin.

But now the argument is being used against electric vehicles due to the transport of all the ore for the batteries.

And NOW, it looks like this is good for the food argument too.

Well done. Very well done. I bet if we factor in all the gas used for the transport of that food we could see quite a large difference in "carbon footprint" for vegetarians vs people with a normal diet. Using their language ("carbon footprint"), we might just get them to shut the fuck up.
