I think you have to clearly declare that you are giving up your U.S. Citizenship in order to lose it. The gubment can't strip it from you and it can't leave you stateless. But then high school civics class was quite some time ago.

We can, many other nations have the balls to do it. We are too generous with the world's most valuable citizenship
