Tripped on the top stair and got up close and personal with a tile floor. Picked up some trivial scrapes and spilled my coffee. Avoided breaking the cup so that's a win.

You know what I didn't do? Boomer it up and "break my hip", "ambulance", "haaaalp I've fallen and I can't get up", or some unhealthy fatass outcome. I've seen waaaay too many people who started horking donuts and stopped going to the gym as they aged and seen how that turns out. They'd have been in the ER if they took that same fall.

Glad you werent hurt! I'm prepared for the days when I get old enough a fall could hurt me. I practiced as a kid and young adult, by tripping and falling over everything like a clumsy bastard. Now, as a mature adult, I dont trip and fall thaaaaat much, and when I do, I just use the momentum and lean into the skid for optimal results. Sometimes it looks really goofy but I just don't take fall damage.

Fat girl at work slipped and fell, she couldn't get up, ended up requiring hamstring surgery. Crazy stuff. Her weight and lack of fitness was 100% to blame imo. That just doesn't happen to fit people.

I see people constantly using walkers and whatnot from surgery. If they could comprehend it's just pain and work through it it'll get better. I got intramedullary nail in leg and half nail in hip and I was walking without assistance in about two months and completely normal in probably 5or 6.

Well put. Using a walker is a sign that you failed to maintain an adequate level of fitness. Surgical recovery doesn't lead to walkers, it leads to crutches or a cane for a couple months at most.

Congratulations .. you fell. I have a titanium hip, I didnt fall, didnt need an amberlamps Im not fat. Sometimes shit just happens to you and you have no control over it.

so being on blood thinners when you're 35 can fuck you up real good in no time.

Falling is scary when you're older. Exercise is vital as is eating properly and getting good nutrition. Maintaining bone density is paramount so you don't shatter when you hit the ground.

No kidding. You have to put bones under strain from exercise or they'll shatter like glass from falls.

I used to like weight lifting, but now I'm having a few problems. One is my knees hurting. I can't do squats with a pathetic amount of weight. I hurt my shoulder, but I started doing light, long weight lifting. Then I started having a problem with nerve irritation around the elbows of both arms. I've had a problem with heel pain, so I don't know running/jogging. I've been doing calf and lower back training to prevent heel and lower back pain respectively. I was doing arm/leg bike for a little while, but I thought that might be irritating the nerves in my arm. Also, it's an obscure machine I won't have access to in most places.

I'm thinking about getting back into regular biking. I've heard it's better to go heavy on resistance, but I find if it's too high, my leg muscle burn out before I can get my heart rate up and breathing heavy. I recently heard from someone who was about to turn 100 that a lard barge that exercises regularly (at least 15 minutes every day) will be better off than a skinny person (especially skinny fat) who doesn't. Last time I tried light and fast biking, I was having trouble building up stamina. I don't know if I'm getting old or if there's something wrong. I used to do at least 9 theoretical exercise bike miles in 30 minutes. Now I can't even get 3 miles in 10 minutes. At one time I was seeing how fast I could go and actually got 10 miles in 30 minutes by killing myself on the bike. I used to do weights as well as the biking. I don't know if that contributed anything.

Is your cardiopulmonary system fubar? You should not have so little stamina as you age. Lower aggregate strength and worse recovery time sure, but 3 measly miles on a bike shouldnt wear you out

I have had heart stuff checked and there was no problem. I just found I had almost no ability to build up more ability like I had before.

Start hitting the bike daily. Take protein and creative powder daily to improve recovery time and build muscle. You're probably getting too little exercise and not eating the amount of meat it takes to support those gains (no shade, you have to hork down steak at every meal to get enough protein for that).

You shouldn't fall down, it's bad for you.
