Leaving work on a county road I felt a little shudder in my jeep. I thought well when I get home Ill crawl under it and see wtf. I was about half mile from getting on a highway and it started jumping all around, I mean jumping. It knocked one of my headlights out.

Turns out one end of my track bar came off. Turned around and drove very slowly back to work and took the work truck home. Ill fix it tomorrow. But man if I had made it to the highway and going fast it would have been very bad.

I had that happen doing highway speeds, I thought my truck was going to fall apart. I didn't know if I should brake or speed through it, both were shit so brakes it was. Got an alignment next day. The "Death" in death wobble is not hyperbole.

This wasnt your usual death wobble. I guess the bolt holding the trackbar on broke. The mount on the frame is wallowed out so a half in bolt fits but the bar is 3/8s. Im gonna replace bolt with grade 8 and keep an eye on it from now on. I dont think there is enough meat to drill bar out to 1/2".

Weld in a new bracket or reinforce with new welded in steel. If you put in a bigger bolt its just a temporary band aid.

If only I was a welder. Only one side is accessible anyway, I had to use offset needlenose to get the washer, lock washer and nut on. Then had to wedge a screwdriver against the nut to tighten it.
