Sometimes I talk to my elderly neighbor across the fence when I see him outside. These folks are lonely and have walked the earth for a respectable amount of time. He works on things in his yard almost every day and he's pushing 100, outside even when the temperature is more than that.

There's also an old lady who does my ironing for cheap, and her sister died this year; she's all alone now. I talk with her a little bit when I drop off or pick up clothes from her. I think a friend and I should make dinner for her and just give her some company.

This is my father at 86. Mom passed about 6 years ago. While I feel pretty lonely myself in this fucked up world we live in, I know it cannot compare to how he must feel having been married over 40yrs. I'm glad I'm here for him now as he has always been there for me my whole life. If I could, I would give up the remainder of my own life so my mom could be back here with him.
