The difference for bravery is that the outcome is anticipated.
Bravery is knowing the risk and still going forward, while stupidity is doing something out of an impulse.
Impulsive behavior often leads to poor results, knowing what to expect often gives you a chance to turn the situation in your favor.
If it's stupid and it works then it's not stupid.
Same could be said for competency and incompetency.
