Blue Laws - the libertarian side of me doesn't like them, but I know they were morally right.
I remember as a kid there was a lot of stuff that was closed on Sunday. Even more so on holidays. Most gas stations were closed on Christmas. Better fuel up ahead of time to get to grandma's house!
We can still support the idea by not engaging in any retail on Sundays. Not that there would be enough of us to make a difference, but if people didn't shop on Sundays, then there would be no reason for stores to be open.
I remember in the early/mid 70's only thing you could buy was food. Everything else was roped off.
What's the old saying about a mighty river starts with a trickle?
Idk but it does sound like it could apply here!
