(edit: driver bit, not drill bit)

Sorry for the double posting this morning, but this so good I got to share a short story with you.

A week or so ago I was being a little dumb with my Impact. instead of making the tomato support out of wood, then taking it to the plant, i thought it would be better to just slap the screws in right where i needed them with the post already in the ground. Well, my unique starshaped tip wasn't locked in with a magnet or special shaped side, so when i flung my drill around, it fell out somewhere random. I looked for it for like an hour, and i looked for it a couple days in a row where i thought i lost it.

I was resigned to my fate that i would never find it again. After watering the plants and moving the dirt around, it would be hopelessly lost.

Well, today i went to pick the ripe tomatoes and was in for the shock of my life. There the damn thing was, sitting like happy dude motorboating two ripe tomatoes. It had to be there when the tomatoes were still plenty green and stayed till i picked them. Gave me a good laugh, thought i would share with y'all

It’s always nice to find a lost bit. Your title had me a bit confused and excited. You lost a driver bit, not a drill bit. There are square drill bits, basically a drill bit flanked by chisels. Never heard of a star drill bit, thus my excitement. Star driver bits are called torx bits. Most commonly t25s that come with standard deck screws. Sometimes t20s for fancier screws, or t30s for beefier screws. The other sizes are less common.

ah yeah, that's making a lot of sense. I haven't had to express my knowledge on tools in a while and its a bit rusty. I tend to know how to use the tools I have though. In general, I wasn't aware that star driver bits were called torx bits, so that's pretty cool. It didn't have that groove on the back that locks it into the impact so it was pretty easy for the little thing to just slip out, and it was the only one like it I had.

I have a driver kit that has all the standard stuff you might want to shove into a impact or a drill motor. I think I have bits and drivers in that kit, but alas it was a driver bit I lost, but I was still very happy to get it back

Yeah impact bits are the best. I hate using the 1/4” drive even if it has a magnet. It’sa great way to lose bits.

Sadly most of my bits are like that in my little arsenal, they want you to shove it into one of those magnetic tips but i dont often like how much farther out the bit is when i do that. The only magnetic extender thing i have is one of those sleeved guides for long screws, and its stuck half mast, RIP

Me too, I thought I was coming here for a jew joke. Then it's just boring ole tools.

Some folks also call the triple square a star bit... They are different than Torx bits.

But yeah I read it and figured that he lost the torx for his 1/4".
