I think it was the advertisers threatening to pull out of Twitter a couple of days ago that effected the about face.

Yes. Elon knew that the advertisers would start to get mad if twitter stayed login-only for too long.

The point of the login-only enforcement was to staunch the flow of information during the paris riots.

The goal was served. Now they're walking it back for Money's sake.

I don't have a twatter account so I still can't see anything by my usual search for account posts. I just get the sign in page.

Or as an example I could try https://twitter.com/DonaldJTrumpJr and get the account icons banner and "something went wrong, try reloading" but it never will show me the posts

So it appears some restrictions were removed, but not all. Thanks for the update. Unofficialbird works so you have that.

unnoficialbird still gets the same errors when I try it. Maybe the API is back online, but with new low daily use limits per API key.

Yeah, I just tried both, twitter works and now unofficialbird doesn't.
