thats pretty adorable. i dont remember catching my first fish but i bet my dad has a happy memory of it. He likes fishing, i wouldnt mind a rod of my own
I do. It was a half dead, already rotting trout. That same day I caught an old boot as if I was living in a cartoon. It was a bad omen for things to come. Since then, I caught more water moccasins than actual fish. I hate fishing.
damn that sucks! those snakes are sneaky, i mean i like snakes, but i wont mess with those venomous ones. my dad never catches anything. he mostly fishes with plastic lures so theres that. ive only had an easy time catching fish with live bait. specifically a time when i cought like 10 catfish. but it was a small pond so it was alot like shooting fish out of a barrel. they had no where to go
Lol, your dad is awesome. Each time I hooked a snake, we just cut the line. Not worth putting your hands near a pissed off, entangled pit viper! Won't even touch a rod nowadays, but tagging along for the bonding experience with friends and family is nice.
Edit: Oh yeah, each of those snakes were caught with live bait. "Shiners", we called 'em.
You poor thing
One of the few childhood memories of my dad was fishing from a wooden bridge. I wish I could remember where it was at because I'd love to revisit it but I do recall catching more fish than him and him congratulating me on every catch.
The reality was, he put me in a spot that he knew I'd catch a bunch of small fish even though they weren't anything you'd keep while he caught fish to bring home for mama to clean and cook.
I have quite a few rods and would be more than happy to give one away but you can also get a decent rod from Academy for less than $20. Grab a pack of hooks for $2 and some bait, and you're good to go.
