Elected government officials and all of their unelected (assigned) workers should be required to live in a neighborhood that's an example of their state's lowest quartile income and standard of living line, and earn an equivalent amount.

So if your state has a lower 1/4th income level of $24,000 / year that's what your entire office and you should make. Those are also the neighborhoods you should be required to live. This includes the president and federal offices but should be a country wide average of the lower fourth quartile of earnings / standard of living etc.
