So the title statement and the leading to question aren't exactly proper. It's not that you're making fun of leftists as a whole, they and nobody cares about that because being a leftist is nebulous and always enlarging group. To explain this think about what "leftists" is. Think about how it's made, it forms etc. "leftists" is an orchestrated group of 'minorities', any flavor you can think of, that are somehow oppressed.
Niggers are oppressed by cops and Whites, women are oppressed by men, spics are oppressed by borders, jews are oppressed by the prefrontal cortex, hamplanets are oppressed by anyone smaller than them, to the point that "small fat" is a thing. Note: that's not nearly an exhaustive list of "oppressed" or "oppressors" but it gets the point across.
So what happens is that this group of oppressed parties are all 'allies', you've seen that word used fairly often. What that means is that if one group is made fun of and it's a part of the collective (that word is common as well) then the next step is that you can make of any other group in the collective. So when you make fun of a troon then the ham takes offense because the next step is making fun of hams, or groids, or spics, or faggots, or women, or ...
It's kind of like the statement of "First they came for the troons and I did not speak up because I was not a troon. Then they came for the negroids and I did not speak up because I was not a negroid..." If any group of the collective is attacked they all see it as a their group is next.
Further when you understand this, and many (most?) probably already did have a feeling about this but hadn't fully explained through it yet, you can then see how Homosexual turned into Lesbian / Gay turned into LGB turned into LGBT ... LGBTQ ........................................... It's just adding more groups to the collective. This is important because there are no individuals in the collective, there's only the collective.
Lastly we've all seen how the slow creep of adding pedophile to this, that, or the other manner of protected class is trying to be forced.
