I got the work/money bug and took a crazy job about a month ago. It's been insane. 70 to 80 hours a week. Have not had a day off since mid April.

Bank account stacked. Does it even matter?

I'm probably just going to burn out and take half the summer off. I can't seem to find a happy medium.

Sounds like it's time for you to slow down.

Brother, take a break. Slow down, enjoy life. Life's too short

I'm halfway done with my goal. I figure at least another month or two. By then maybe it will become a turnkey. Idk, too early to tell. They aren't paying support staff well. That is a key issue.

ToV don’t be a whiney bitch boy. Work your ass off . A day off? Pffft. Keep it up and by the time you’re 60-70 you’ll have health problems out your ass, divorced twice, etc. etc. What more can you ask for? Or… take CanIPlay2’s advice and relax and enjoy what you have going right now. Yes! It DOES matter. YOU matter.

Thanks!

I'll update. Hopefully things get better. The last person left this job a total mess. Once I get it put back together hope things will calm down.

Whenever talking about work and wages, I always ask the same question - Who gets paid more, a hedge fund manager or someone who shovels manure?

The answer is - They both get paid the same amount. They get paid the bare minimum needed to get them to show up again tomorrow.

Once you hit your breaking point, and you are no longer getting paid enough to show up tomorrow, don't just quit. Tell them that the only way you will show up again tomorrow is if you're making this much money and working this many hours. If they don't agree, then fine. But if you are worth it, if it's in their best interests, they'll do whatever it takes to make sure you show up again tomorrow.

The truth is that it's your one and only bargaining chip. Don't let it go to waste. Use it. Even if your demands are ridiculous, they might be in a spot where it's better easier for them to meet your demands than it is to watch you walk away.

And that's the key word - "Easier". Employees don't do what's better, they do what's easier. And if it's easier to tell payroll to increase your paychecks and to push most of your workload onto someone else, instead of hiring someone to replace you, they will always take the easy way.

You don't "find a happy medium". You work yourself into a situation where you can make demands and have them met.

I didn't really want this job so I asked for a dump truck of money. When they agreed I was kind of like. Oh... I guess this is happening.

Yes, the bigger the stack the longer you can rest then

>I'm probably just going to burn out and take half the summer off.

Avoid the burn out... Try stopping a tad before, it makes a world of difference. Pretty much like taking a beating and getting KO'ed, not the same sequels

Concur. Don't beat yourself up for working hard, just slow down at some point

Money is good but burn out sux balls. When I first got into the moving industry that's how it was but then I quit went and worked as a shipping coordinator for some pretty pozzed company while I got my CDL, took a break from that while I moved cities and then back to driving I went

I worked a job that was 75-90 hours per week, but the job was ridiculously easy. I was literally watching people work. Even that was stressful just the requirement to be at work all day, everyday.
