Part of Jesus's teachings were about not just a healthy mind and soul, but also a healthy body. He taught that gluttony was bad, moderation good. (In fact, there are several diet programs today based on biblical references.) His messages about yeast and salt helped shape the cuisine of the area, and instructing the people to only use eggs with flour as a binding agent in breads or noodles, instead of eating fried eggs as a meal, increased the lifespan of the people in that region by drastically cutting cholesterol intake.

After he was crucified, the people, as usual, went back to their old ways.

On the third day, a man came running into town at sunrise, just as everyone was preparing breakfast. "Jesus came back!" he yelled. "Hide the eggs!"

Cool story but that did not happen...

Eggs were formerly a forbidden food during Lent, so people would paint and decorate them to mark the end of the period of penance and fasting, then eat them on Easter as a celebration.
