It's the trait I've noticed outside of rehab, before they have hit their bottom. I can't speak to what they are like in rehab, never been. Maybe that false veneer is destroyed by others in group discussion.

Oh, in that case I completely agree. The sheer amount of lies an addict will spout while using is unfathomable. They are completely different people when they are in rehab, sober, and trying to stay that way.
