Unrelated, but interested to think about: The introduction of horses by the Spanish did create a "conquest vacuum" among the Plains Indians tribes though. If you had horses? You were smashing your non-horse opponent tribes. The horse completely revolutionized the tribes that were lucky to have come across them.
