When European settlers attempted to buy land from native American tribes the tribes willingly sold the land as the idea of land ownership was nonsensical to them. They didn't believe people could own land. So they thought they were cheating the European settlers.

Unrelated, but interested to think about: The introduction of horses by the Spanish did create a "conquest vacuum" among the Plains Indians tribes though. If you had horses? You were smashing your non-horse opponent tribes. The horse completely revolutionized the tribes that were lucky to have come across them.

Pretty much all peoples of the world were conquering and enslaving to the fullest extent of their ability to do so. White people were better at it and used boats. The only peculiar thing in the history of the world is those evil, white devils decided it would be a good idea to put an end to blatant slavery. An interesting thing to think about, though, is that all of the remaining cultures of the world were the cultures of conquerors. Those were conquered were eradicated and the conquerors always lived on.
