AI in its current state is not suited to replace judges, and probably not lawyers. I'm not sure I'd ever be comfortable having my freedom decided by a computer anyway. A jury would never be replaceable, the entire point of a jury [of your peers] is that its madeup of people who have a similar social status and may in some way relate to your situation.
There is no doubt though.. AI will be regarded in history as a technology/manufacturing revolution similar to the discovery of electricity and industrial assembly line. Jobs will be phased out, new jobs will be created/expanded where human interaction is still needed.
You missed the part where a human would review and confirm.
Simple fact is, an honest AI means an honest trial and a fair judgement/punishment.
