Windows 7 seems to be the last one before they greatly lowered the information density of the UI.
I agree. Maybe Win 95/98. Not WinME though, fuck that one
I was just getting into c development when I started using windows 98. I moved to linux in like a few months after I found out fucking up a pointer in my user space program wouldn't bring down the entire os. Also, not have to reboot every few days was nice as well.
me had a great defrag though, me and my son use to just watch it.
If you think xp is great, then you don't really work with computers
God you fuckers, it 'was' great.
Win 2000 was the best.
I preferred the alternative win 2k
I used to have an opinion, but being familiar with Linux really destroyed my interest in anything by Microsoft.
I've run more Linux systems than Windows, but Windows still is my main OS due to my specific software niche. I'm jumping ship permanently once they attempt to force upgrade Windows 11.
98 had more. It was still DOS based. Very Linux like in that it literally would not stop you from fucking your shit. XP would display a warning window
blue window, we fucked with XP all day. There were forums for fucking with it, we made it small.
98 didn't need to be made small:. IT WAS small :)
dude 98 sucked, I know it and you know it.
Nothing new is better
On the windows side I generally agree. 2000 was lighter weight, but lacked some things (usb 3.0 or something like that). I'd always switch xp back to the 2000 theme. Other than hardware support, I can see anything I'd call an advantage. That start menu abomination in windows 10 is horrendous. I can't think of any app in the menu (are they called tiles?) 'd classify as useful. It also isn't browsable since it like a million entries long. The control panel is no longer browsable either. You can always search for things in the control panel, but just browsing around is incredibly frustrating because the groupings seem non-nonsensical to me.
Ha, I make 7 look like xp
You'd think they'd get the hint when that's the first thing a lot of users do. I guess they're too busy installing spyware on top of existing spyware.
And they can't commit to new or old settings modules. Like there is "Sound Settings" which is new, but "Sounds" is another settings page which is old style. Fuck the pajeets
I rarely have to use windows anymore, but yes that shit is retarded. It's amazing how such a terrible piece of software became so ubiquitous. Samsung is taking an equally retarded dump on the android os as well.
Samsung...?
I think a lot of old ATM's still run on XP.
I got updates on XP way after they discontinued because that. I would have to hook up an old comp for a link though.
Do you homos even dos or 3.1
