Dang that sucks. Imagine starving death. Man what a way to go

[–] 1 pt

Yep. Worst case scenario I high tail it to my cousin's place and his 30 acres homestead. Lots of hunting, fishing, and trapping in the area.

[–] 2 pts

Yeah, how many of your relatives have the same plan?

[–] 0 pt

There's about 5 of em with acreage so we'll divide em all up by senority, whether they have guns or other skills to bring to the table. Libtards are last in line.

[–] 1 pt

how are you going to get there?

[–] 1 pt

Chickens not laying isn't starving. Chickens have an unusual reproductive cycle. They are originally from a part of Asia that had a very cyclical boom-and-bust insect cycle. So, chickens were designed (evolution is bullshit) to conserve energy until the food population (worms and insects) exploded, and then to reproduce like crazy. When chickens have a high calorie, high protein diet, they are genetically programmed to reproduce like crazy. That's why if you keep feeding chickens, they will keep laying eggs, daily. On the other hand, if you turn the protein down, their body reads that as "bust cycle" and turns their metabolism down and shuts down the reproduction. They aren't starving, they are just in Power Save mode. As soon as you return the protein, they will start laying again.

They would need tons of available energy sources to maintain their own little bird health and produce eggs, correct? I never thought of that...so what about feeding them like mealworms or actually raising earthworms as food for chickens?

[–] 0 pt

Mealworms and earthworms work. The chicken tractors that Polyface Farm popularized are fantastic for feeding chickens this high calorie high proteins diet just from the ground. https://thisbeautifulfarmlife.com/how-to-build-a-simple-chicken-tractor/ It doesn't have to be hard, though, these little dinosaurs will eat damn near ANYTHING. People are getting good results just mixing raw hamburger into the feed. Chickens love it.

[–] 1 pt

You cut through that guys fence to steal his chickens?

[–] 1 pt

I wouldnt use costco as a barometer for that. Take account of multiple stores. Costco is not on the same supply chains as everybody.

[–] 1 pt

They have pickled beets that are really good.

[–] 0 pt

I buy the quick beets. Pre boiled.

[–] 1 pt

Yesterday the local Aldi had an almost full stock cart of eggs. AND 3 more behind it fully loaded. And the price has come down $1 from last month.

[–] 1 pt

Probably food shortage coming.

[–] 0 pt

Boiled eggs? I just bought five dozen last week for $3 a dozen.

[–] 0 pt

Where at? Costco?

[–] 1 pt

Yeah. Limit of one, but who needs more than 5 dozen?

[–] 0 pt

They probably can't get any in my area but can in other parts of the country.

[–] 0 pt

7 in my family, 5 dozen lasts less than a week. sometimes a little longer. 15 dozen no longer available.

[–] 0 pt

Did you know you can boil them yourself you lazy faggot.

[–] 0 pt

You faggot nigger, did I say I wouldn't boil them if I wanted to?

[–] 0 pt

Why in the FUCK would you complain about "boiled eggs", boil your own u worthless pussy, you stupid fuck

[–] 0 pt

First of all, what part of my post was a complaint? Second, you sound like a nigger faggot.

[–] 0 pt

Perhaps you should have been more precise in your observations then? Your statement does have the flavour of a complaint. BTW I am white and in a 20 year relationship with an ethnic white of my own country.

[–] 0 pt

Good to know. But I meant to just report on the situation, since it came as a surprise when I couldn't buy a box like I normally do. In any case I'll just eat my eggs over hard or in an omlette. I like the boiled eggs as a snack, sliced up in a breakfast sandwich, in my soup, or mashed up with salsa or other condiment in a egg salad type sandwich.
