A great general rule of thumb to go by.

Do you NEED an account with them for some reason?

Fuck their 5% off for card member discounts. That is a call to track every item you buy into a giant database to sell off at their leisure to make additional money off of you.

Start spending cash. Cash is untraceable.

Your card company loves you to always use the card also. Same reason as the store wants you to make the acct for some BS % off shit.

To store and track every purchase you make.

They Never delete this data.

If you think you need an acct, or want the acct to get the savings which would matter to you. Ask yourself is there an alternate method?

Case in point - long ago gf, got new #, i still use her old # for grocery stores, she doesn't have it anymore. We've lost touch. It still works. Why do I need a new #? I still get the discount by entering that phone #.
