There's no such thing as an illegal gun owner: he's simply undocumented. Gun owners are law abiding, so there's no point in adding an unnecessary label.
In many states a convicted felon owning most guns is an illegal gun owner. Owning firearms purchased legally, yet then arbitrarily made "illegal" is a bunch of crap.
