is by if and how many MLM schemes I get contacted about on job boards. Think Mutual of Omaha, Globe Life, etc. Insurance companies where there are no jobs, they're just recruiting people to build their own pyramid, where you get to pay for thousands in licenses before you can even do anything at all. That's assuming you have the mindset to be able to scam seniors out of their money.

The telco crash of 2000, the housing crash of 2008, right before Trump got in office, all down times in the economy and those scammers were out in force, making pests of themselves. Some were to the point they texted constantly, saying they had already set up appointments for you to come in and discuss the "job." Last of of those I received, I told them that the only way I'd come in is if the texter would suck my dick. I got unsubscribed pretty quick.

Today, I get one from Globe Life. Since these asshats only seem to come out when they can prey on people's insecurity, I have to assume that shit is getting bad, economy wise.

Buckle up kids.

I have been getting a lot of calls and texts from shitbags trying to buy my house on the cheap so they can rent it out. Now that I bought my mom's house I'm getting twice the calls.... I really hate those people.

I was getting those too - everyone I know was getting them. I found that they get your phone number from things like credit reports.

My solution was to get a google voice number for places that I deal with that want a phone number and just check the voice website (or application) for calls that I may need to review. My actual number is not given to anyone except trusted people and is whitelisted. If you're not a contact, you don't call.

Great idea! I have a saved text template that I respond to them with when they text me. I only ever got one response to that text.... calling me a Karen! These are not smart people.

I understand that many don't like Google, and I'm not keen on them, but that phone service is invaluable. You can have one number per email, I have one for business comms, and a number in an advantageous area code for job comms. You can forward the texts and voice-to-text as emails to the accompanying email address.

You will need to connect it to a real number when you sign up, but as soon as it's verified you can remove it. That may be a deal killer for some, but a phone number isn't a super-private thing. I've never had any spam to my actual cell number that I can trace to google, just the normal auto-dialers you get everywhere. Those get caught by the whitelisting.
