There was discussion the other day about how our brains can't tell movies from real life, and I've been thinking about it a lot. I found this sad/hilarious blog post that's meant to help people cope with the sadness movies create, even if they're "happy" movies, but I think it unintentionally highlights why they're so toxic and it made me think about how so many people are trying to act out these weird broken internal realities instead of finding a genuine purpose which might be attributed to movies and media. Do what you want, but I think I'm done with movies.

Most modern people cannot tell the difference between movies and real life. Really sad

Like third worlders that see first world movies and believe they're reality.

Same with the inverse: first worlders see movies set in a third world and sympathize with what are ultimately fake problems.
