A few months back I acquired a brand new vehicle. Up to that point, I had the same car for like 18 years, so it was time.
My new car is a dark colored SUV. Because I totaled my ex-wife's car a few years back (and almost died in the process) by hitting a deer at 85 mph, I decided to put one of those grill guards on my new car. Also, the rims on my ride are black and the windows are quite dark. So, it sort of looks like an undercover cop.. maybe that's an understatement. Ok, it definitely looks like a cop car.
I had originally thought that people on the highway would get the fuck outta my way in the event that they are hogging up the fast lane and I get behind them. Unfortunately what usually happens is that they slow down immediately because well.. they think I'm a cop. So, that sucks balls.
However, here's the upside. I noticed that minorities at different places do a double and sometimes triple take of me at gas stations and other places. I have come to the conclusion, based on many instances, that they either think I'm a cop or they aren't sure enough whether or not I am and do not wish to find out. Basically, they steer clear of me.
One example of many: I picked my buddy up from lunch one day at his workplace. While I was waiting on him to come out, some of his workplace associates (some Afro American gentlemen) in the parking lot were looking.. then talking to each other.. then looking again.. then talking to each other..It was obvious what they were thinking.
I told him about it when he came out. They watched him get in the car.
Later he told me that they told him they thought it was a cop and wondering why he got in the car with a cop.. LOL.
So, now you know what to do if you want certain types to stay the fuck away from you: dark SUV with grill guard.
