I'll give you a general location. I live in the Midwest. Farm country everywhere. I had no idea it was that bad outside this area.
I too am in the Midwest, but I live in a suburb of a major metropolitan area. Sadly I don't have room for a drop down freezer which would drop me to 5-6 a lb for the whole cow.
I average about $5 a lb. But I have a large enough deep freezer to keep half a cow, and half a pig. I cure and smoke my own hams and bacon. When I want chicken I go grab one from the yard.
It really puts into perspective what others are facing. I guess civil war is much closer than I suspected.
I am jealous. House's in the area are BONKERS. I may be able to find a place in the country, but my job requires good internet And without that job I couldn't even afford $5 a pound meat.
