That’s not the only reason. There’s also plenty of disagreement within the right wing on important issues where there shouldn’t be, they aren’t organized, they don’t operate as a unit like the left does. There’s LOTS of reasons. Hell, I’ve had to argue with members of my own family about whether or not Trump was the guy to vote for because “he tweets mean things” and “talks too much.” And these people are conservative. As for the natural inclination towards self preservation that most people have, you can’t really expect to just ignore it. It’s a different thing to die in battle than to slowly starve and rot away.
