I smoked it pretty much daily through my twenties into my late 30’s, with a single year long hiatus sometime in my 20’s.

It’s been almost two years since I’ve touched the stuff.

Anyhow, I noticed that I’m sharper and care more about getting stuff done since I stopped.

The biggest drawbacks I personally saw from it were that it seemed to foster a sort of apathy towards everyday tasks…and if I smoked too much at once or even a little of something too strong (certain strains I eventually figured out) I’d get some anxiety..though nothing a couple of beers couldn’t fix.

I had a friend in high school/college that smoked a lot and ended up schizophrenic by 19. It was sad to see.

My personal take is that it’s a subtle/insidious drug. Because you can still function (unlike something like acid), it can sneak up on you. It also doesn’t help that you don’t pay a big price for overindulgence like you do with too much alcohol. Yeah, you might be groggy and all, but that’s nothing like an intense hangover from drinking. Because the penalty you pay for smoking pot is over an elongated amount of time and doesn’t really cause any immediate physical pain or discomfort, it’s very easy to believe that you’re paying no penalty at all from using it.

And people who say it’s not addictive are full of shit, by the way.

One thing I miss, however, is that it did tend to bring out my creative side..especially when it came to guitar/song writing…and with some work stuff, too. But it ain’t worth it in the long run. I’m glad I quit.

imo, one of the most dangerous things about weed is how it lulls you into complacency.

Agreed. I guess I just used a lot more words to say the same thing haha

Your comment is great! I wanted to voice my agreement!

The addictive nature of marijuana is just different from something like, say, opiates.

There is absolutely a physical component to both withdrawal syndromes. A lot more physically visible symptoms manifest when someone's kicking heroin, but someone kicking weed might be going through some shit.

A common one is: they can't sleep anymore. And now after they're pot-free, they start having dreams and remembering them again. This seems to be pretty jarring to people, if you haven't dreamed in a long time, every time you sleep, you're just in total oblivion, suddenly you're thrust back into the bizarre mindfuck of dreaming- I can see why that'd be uncomfortable.

Personally, I believe that pot addiction is more about the mind than the body. Heroin addiction is more about the body than the mind. Kicking heroin can be really fast, and the worst withdrawal symptoms gone in a week- someone breaking all the habits surrounding their pot use over the course of months is probably exhausting. Probably also easier to talk yourself into relapsing- "It's just a little joint, it's not like I'm a smackhead or something."

Sucks that drugs always have drawbacks, but such is the nature of the universe. Get fucked up, you might end up fucked up, it really makes sense when you think of it like that.

From the same science community that gave us the last 2 years.

lmao.

It is sad that science and medicine set their creditability on fire.

So do I have to dig on these doctors that wrote this shit? I'll wager they have worked for big pharma.

Don't smoke weed goy, take these pills and this jab instead.

Grow it yourself, process it yourself, smoke it yourself, there is nothing wrong with weed. Unless of course, you sell drugs and all your potential customers are smoking weed.

Wife smoked through three pregnancies. She has epilepsy. All kids are amazing.

I’ve smoked for years and I can take it or leave it. I like to have it but if I don’t life goes on. I’d smoke every day all day if I had the resources. I work in masonry and just about everyone smokes. It’s probably one of the most physically demanding jobs and, we all get up every day, smoke and head off to work.

My friend from high school had a lounge you could smoke in. Way better atmosphere than a bar. That’s where my wife and I met. Been married for 5 years.

This is just my experience. None of their balls have fallen off due to aggressive ball cancer. My uncle who smoked dope for 50 years still has his balls.

But. Dude. Weed.

I think the worst thing is it makes you demotivated after a while. At first you feel like it's helping you with your creativity but eventually it becomes a crutch and you end up getting nothing done.

I also have a friend with PTSD that smokes and I swear it's making him so much worse, but he won't take the time to get past the 1 to 3 month withdrawal phase to be able to see how much less stressed he is without it. At this point he's so deep into it that he's like a different person, constantly on edge and high strung. And it's not the PTSD either because when he first got out of the military he was vastly less bad off than now.

This should be a site sticky announcement.

I've seen friends and collogues who smoke have all these problems, and would never even dream of blaming in on weed.

One of them did figure out it was messing him up after years of abuse, and stopped cold turkey. After few months of gradual improvement he was like a new man.

Psychiatric disorders. Several studies indicate a link between marijuana use and an increased risk of mental health disorders, such as schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety in individuals who are genetically predisposed.

So crazy people might still be crazy if they smoke weed got it...

Refer Madness,

It is nice to see people discussing how bad the stuff really is and their experiences with themselves and others they know.

Yep, friend of mine growing up abused that shit since he was 12 or 13.

He was a paranoid schizophrenic by 18 and dead by cop at 22.

It takes 3 to 4 days for your body to eject most drugs from your system. Your body hates drugs and tries to get rid of them as fast as it can. It takes your body about 30 days to finally give up weed. Your own body will try to hang on to marijuana for as long as it can. Am I saying that it is not abused or that people don't take too much? Not at all! People abuse it just like they do everything else. I firmly believe that it is here for us to use. It was put on this earth for our benefit, but it is usually taken in too large of a dose. I also believe that it needs to be studied and tested. Correct doses to help with things like chronic pain, and problems like parkinson's and seizures should be determined. I would feel a whole lot better about taking a liquid or gummy to relieve problems like that than the poisons that are being pushed on us now by the jew pharmaceutical companies!

Our body has an endocannabinoid system and I think it's important to look into this more. I used to smoke a lot, mostly as a way to relax after working a very stressful 9-5. It did help with creativity and it absolutely relieved menstrual symptoms. This is not to say everyone should partake but it is a useful herbal remedy.

Marijuana abuse (and other substance abuse) wouldn't be so much of an issue if we didn't live in a distopia.

I had an injury when I was very young. It wasn't a huge deal back then, but the older I get the more trouble it causes now. The "medical industry" would have me taking ever increasing amounts of their dope! They are not interested in trying to do something about the problem just treat the symptoms. Small amounts of marijuana throughout the day is able to help with my problem but without destroying my liver and other organs. Finding a proper dose has been difficult. It's all trial and effort.

The body also has taste receptors in your anus but I don't think that means we were meant to shove food up our asses.

We have a lot of old, sick people in this country getting pumped full of pharmaceuticals. Cannabis was ised medicinally for a long time and wasn't abused. A cheap herbal remedy could help a lot of people and it's worth looking into further.
