Learn to distill or ferment alcohol to barter with. Its a valuable commodity when shtf. You can distill alcohol as an antiseptic or for drinking. You'll need yeast. Here is a yeast recipe from potatoes. https://culinarylabz.com/2020/04/04/how-to-make-potato-yeast/

Another one I’ve been thinking of is learning how to make and work with leather. Shoes wear out fast when you’re on your feet all day working. Once industries shut down and all the stores have long since been looted people will be in constant need of new shoes.

Making matches won't be necessary in the total collapse of civilization. Everything will be on fire anyway because of all the industrial things that are left unmanned and uncontrolled when people bug out. You can put your hopes in automated systems that (sort of) shut down refineries, chemical plants, nuclear reactors and what not, but those systems aren't meant to completely bring everything to a safe stop without a lot of human intervention. Shit will be on fire and burning some really bad shit that will cause everything nearby to become hazardous and on fire too. Who the fuck needs matches when you have fire everywhere?

I don't need matches, I have flint. If that fails(ie the flint gets wet), I resort to the magnifying glass in my edc tin. If that fails, I resort to more primitive methods.
