Once upon a time there was a Republic where only men who were property owning citizens were afforded the privelege and responsibility of voting for the communities public servants and public works. This right was extended to males with skin in the game and came with a host of obligations of expectation: Serving as part of the local militia, fire brigade, juries, etc. Owning and operating a business or farm was indicative of a certain level of intelligence and responsibility and help to weed out the fucktards and sycophants. The decline in societal intelligence, which peaked around 1870 and then began it's precipitous descent, (with an estimated net loss of 15-20 IQ points between 1880 - 2000), was commensurate with rise of universal suffrage and loss of communal homogeneity. The unwashed hordes oozed in and descended upon The Land as The Walls were breached by barbarians at The Gate and 5th Column usurpers infected the declining minds of The Citizenry with concepts and practices that were antithetical to the traditions and mores the had been the bedrock of the society.
