Did you get an organ transplant? Immune suppressants do a lot of damage as you well know....
zyrtec works wonders. short term wal mart brand equate itch relief gel works like a champ!
You're having an allergic reaction to something. Go get some Benadryl and you can likely fix it yourself. If not, go get a prescription for a stronger antihistamine. I was doused with a weed killer decades ago, and would get hives at random times for several years. I took a lot of antihistamines. I eventually got over it.
As you write with your third arm...how in the hell did antihistamines help with poison?
It didn't. I got a bad fever for a few hours along with really bad hives. The effects from the 2,4-D went away in a day or so, but it messed with my immune system or something and hives came back for 5-6 years, usually when I was run down or coming down with a cold or flu.
My sister-in-law got cancer from the poisons my brother used on the farm..dont mess with it.
Do you suspect that the swab was contaminated with something that caused an allergic reaction?
Because of colitis I keep very strict tabs / watch of everything I eat and get exposed to see what upsets it or not. With strep I've had like literally 20+ times and I've never had this play out. The hives in particular, I've never had this like this before, full body, 48 hours straight, can't even sleep, scratched my hands so badly the first night they were bruised when I woke up, had to use gloves and socks just to go to sleep.
It's possible the fever came from a CMV flare up.... The runny nose from a mucinex throat spray I got, and the hives from some pre frozen lasagna I ate. But I've NEVER gotten hives before. Now full body 48 hours so bad I can't even sleep? Also I'm pretty sure the scratching was before I ate that lasagna.
Hives that bad stink of a new auto immune illness / "allergy".
Benadryl worked perfectly which suggests it's an "allergy" type thing and I'll have to see if it comes back over the next day and start doing food testing if it does.
As a chronic hives sufferer I would urge you to start with the basics. Manage your stress levels with (screen free) exercise, cut back on the ammt of detergent you use, and use the extra rinse cycle if your machine has that setting. Rewash/rinse your bedding and consider switching to Castile bar soaps for personal hygiene. If your skin is raw and uncomfortable, look for moisturizers with ceramides, they're worth the extra money!
Drink clay. Green or white or whatever you find. The clay will calm the hive. Find powdered clay and mix it in a glass with a wooden spoon or anything wooden. Plastic is fine too. But not metal.
Sometimes chronic strep throat is related to the wrong bacteria being present in the tonsils, can cause lifelong issues unless fixed or removed. Fixing involves removal of tonsil stones, flushing with antibiotics and re culturing with correct Biotics.
As to the hives, that’s rough. I would look into fasting to try and reset the immunity responses from overactive.
You had strep and they didn't give you antibiotics? The heck?
Not only that they just called to give the extend swab results to say "no bacteria found". I told them I took a spare antibiotic and the strep throat went away in 24 hours. They did not. give a shit that they were completely and dangerously wrong.
I've had similar experiences. After you've had strep a few times you know the symptoms well enough to show up early into the symptoms. Unfortunately...that leads to false negatives until you go back a few days later to explain in crayon "I'm dying here, give me antibiotics".
I went in 6 days in to the strep throat. It was already keeping me up at night. They said "We don't see any white patches in the back of your throat so it isn't strep". I went home. It was nothing BUT white patches all over the back of the throat.
I even told them it happened immediately after eating some green patches that looked like mold in freshly cooked banana bread. I ate it because I thought it was impossible mold could be in freshly cooked banana bread.
